The Confédération Africaine de Football (“CAF”) President, Dr Patrice Motsepe has arrived in Zanzibar this morning ahead of the CAF African Schools Football Championship Continental Final tonight, Friday 24 May 2024.

The Confédération Africaine de Football (“CAF”) President, Dr Patrice Motsepe has arrived in Zanzibar this morning ahead of the CAF African Schools Football Championship Continental Final tonight, Friday 24 May 2024.

This is Dr Motsepe’s first official visit in the Island as it prepares to host its first ever continental Final. He was welcomed by Tanzania Football Federation (“TFF”) President Wallace Karia, CAF Vice President Souleiman Waberi and local Government Officials. 

This is the second edition of the CAF African Schools Football Championship Continental Finals. Durban, South Africa, hosted the first ever Continental Championship last year.

The CAF African Schools Football Championship Continental Finals will be played tonight with the opening fixture at 18h30 local time (15h30 GMT).

The success of the CAF African Schools Football Championship is a partnership between CAF, African Governments, Member Associations and Schools.

It is supported by the Motsepe Foundation who donated USD 10 million towards the Programme. 

In the Girls U15 category, Morocco will play South Africa at 15h30 GMT (18h30 local time) in what is expected to be an exciting feature.

In the Boys U15 category, Guinea, the defending champions, will face Tanzania.

Prize Money:

Winners of both the Boys’ and Girls’ competition will each receive USD 300 000 prize money.

Runners-up will each receive USD 200 000, while the bronze medallists will each take home USD 150 000, courtesy of CAF’s partnership with the Motsepe Foundation to be utilised for development projects within schools.
